There's a common belief in Finland that blackcurrant juice is an effective remey for a cold. The fruits are dark purple and has a great source of vitamin C. Both the fruit and its juice have a sweet tart taste. Drink the juice about three or four times a day or when your cold symptoms start to act up. It's said to work better if it's warm.

Ginger Ale - South African Remedy

It is said that ginger is used to cure cold or flu in many different cultures and in different ways. I personally enjoy ginger tea whether or not I have a cold, but I learned a new way of making it just a few days ago from the time I am writing this post. As South Africans, combine ginger ale with honey and lemon. About two teaspoons of honey and lemon juice with a few drops of eucalyptus oil. One cup of ginger ale is added, heated, and sipped slowly like a tea.

Bitterroot

Bitterroot is known amoung American Indians as a treatment for a sore throat or a cold. Bitterroot goes by many other names, including singer's root (since the remedy is used for a hoarse voice for singers). You take a little chunk of bitterroot or bite off a piece. The root is hard, but soon it softens up and becomes spongy, so you can suck on it for hours.

As any herbs taken, please seek assistance from knowledgable people before using.

Cold Sores

Ofcourse everyone hates putting up with cold sores, especially if you have an appointment, meeting, or even a date! Well, just incase it happens at the wrong time, try this tip. Put ice on it as much as possible as soon as you feel it coming in. Even if you have to melt an entire ice cube on it. Then put some mouthwash on a q-tip and dab on it. Should heal within a few days as long as you keep freezing and dabbing. If your cold sore is already open, melt an entire ice cube on it then immediately dab with alcohol using a q-tip.

Flu-Shake

Releives congested-stuffy head, sore throat, caughing, aching, fever. Helps keep away cold & flu.
A little something my mother puts together. It works better than a cold medicine you would buy from the store. I've been using it since I was a child and still do as a grown man.

*Recipe: Ginger, Lime juice, Tree of Life (optional), Honey, Garlic (chopped very tiny).
Blend together as a shake.
